TICK TICK

A young man is rendered mute during a job interview. The silence broken only by the ticking clock above him. He remembers the struggles he went through to get here.
He sees himself on the phone. Rejection upon rejection, the clock in his head stops. After several unanswered “hello”s he finds relief. The clock starts again, and he’s been granted an interview. “You won’t be disappointed,” he says. “I guarantee it!”
Back to the present, his eyes dart around. A million ticking clocks appear around him. “What if I screw this up?” he thinks, as the nausea takes him.
